Can you start a Oil drilling company like Exxon?

How?Can you start a Oil drilling company like Exxon?
Sounds like your thinking about digging in your backyard, btw if you strike oil, land rights do not allow you to keep any of it and you can't block them from digging at an angle...

As an investor, you could buy into a trust and thus receive dividend at a later time, but if their efforts for digging fail - you are SOLCan you start a Oil drilling company like Exxon?
I would research governmental regulations first, then look into the type of equipment as well as investments in land or drilling rights next. Obviously not an easy proposition or everyone would be doing it.
No problem if you have money to pay for exploration rights on lands which could be oil producing, to purchase drilling equipment and related supplies, to pay wages to your drilling foreman and roust-a-bouts and to provide storage facilities in the event your work has been successful.
Sure.

By having enough money to buy or lease drilling equipment, and buying drilling rights to land that might have oil.
Why would you want to? Invest in renewable technology.
just somehow acquire several billion dollars for starting costs... and your good to go
