First of all, if you check statistics, over 60% of American's that own mutual funds %26amp; stock portfolio's of any type do own a part of big oil.


Its up to the fund manager what to buy into and that has been their pick.


Secondly, all the people that demonize big oil should go soak their heads. they obviously know little about the economy.


If they had cars that ran on cotton candy, then they'd all be whining as to why the cotton candy factories were making obscene profits. Profit on the oil companies after they invest in research, finding, drilling, building rigs, refining and transporting is around 9%. Mean while there are industries in America making upward of 30% profit on their goods. So are we all to be a bunch of whining socialists and tax the hell out of those people too ? The only reason there's big profits is because EVERYBODY needs gas and oil. Not everyone needs cotton candy, or banana's or clothes made by Kelvin Klein. So can we all get a brain and stop falling for the democrats propaganda to demonize the one group of companies that are supplying us with what we need in our daily lives. The democrats stood in the way of our energy independance, they are the one's that were largely responsible for the price's drastically going up and weren't too concerned about bringing them down. It was democrat agenda's that pushed for inefficient Ethanol and other alternative resources that have seemed promising in the past but haven't gone anywhere.


big oil is not responsible for finding alternative fuels....that's suppose to be the job of the government or entrepreneurs. If i had a legitamate selling product, why in hell would I try to put myself out of business by finding another way to do the same thing i'm doing now ?


People need more education and to find the facts before they go off the cuff whining and pointing the fingers.


After all, that's what makes the open market work and capitalism......That's what America is all about.

Most everyone does who holds any type of retirement account.
Most investment portfolio include Exxon, it's a very reliable company. The person with the real Exxon connection is Condi Rice, they even named a tanker after her. You also have to remember that by given them land on which to drill, as Bush and Rice have done, and then not pushing them to actually pump any oil, as they have also done, they increase the profits of the company.
