Will oil companies such as Exxon be able to set another profit record when USA leaves Iraq?

It'll be the 4th year in a row for them to make the most profits of any company from any industry and any country if oil prices remain artificially high. Many people are convinced OPEC's decision to manipulate production and prices are a direct result of USA's presence in Iraq. If that is indeed the case, will oil companies still be able to generate record-breaking profits for themselves when USA troops are allowed to return home? Will oil companies such as Exxon be able to set another profit record when USA leaves Iraq?
Think about this... The profit margin on gasoline sold in the US is an average of 4%, meaning for every dollar you spend on gas, the Exxon, Shell, or whoever, is making 4 cents.

The federal tax on gasoline however is 18.4 cents per gallon. My state charges and additional 20.5 cents per gallon.

So let's look at the numbers: on every gallon of gas, the oil companies who drill, pump, ship, refine, ship again, an market the fuel make roughly 16 cents profit on every gallon of gas. The government, which has done nothing, makes over twice that amount on every gallon of gas sold.

Big greedy oil companies? Try Big greedy government. Will oil companies such as Exxon be able to set another profit record when USA leaves Iraq?
Here's where the bias against the oil industry is SO obvious. The media and pandering politicians talk about the total profit in $$$$, not percentages. The oil industry is at about 8% in its profits. That is LOW compared to many corporations. The numbers are high because of the sheer size of the industry... which is the biggest in the world... not the size of the profit compared to their output.

To put it in perspective, you would expect the total profits of your local Mom-and-Pop hamburger joint to be higher than MacDonald's... right? That is just logical when you look at the TOTAL number of burgers they sell as a company around the world. But if you look at the PERCENT profits, the local burger joint might do better than MacDonald's... if they had a really great burger!
Shell is probably one of the most horrible conglomerates on the planet. Their record of human rights violations alone is frightening and atrocious. When I hear the things they've gotten away with doing, it makes me lose hope for humanity. Forget about Iraq for a moment; just look at Nigeria.
Americans are paying dearly for the war in Iraq . And the worst part is there were NO Weapons of Mass Destruction . Texas Oil is running the country . Wouldn't it be nice to own a oil company
Have no fears for the oil companies, they will prosper for a long time to come

Bush's next job is secured
