Would you be willing to boycott Mobile/Exxon oil to force them to lower prices?

Let's do it!Would you be willing to boycott Mobile/Exxon oil to force them to lower prices?
These ';plans'; are so stupid. If you really want to do something that reduces the price of gasoline... you have to signifantly decrease the demand for oil. That means not driving your car... at all. Don't buy plastics or Rubber products ever. Not just a few thousand people... it has to be 100's of millions of people.... then maybe... but

Not going to happen... so forget it.Would you be willing to boycott Mobile/Exxon oil to force them to lower prices?
Yes! How do I sign up??
Hell ya!!!
Just go ahead, I bet they can hold out longer than you can .... du
Sorry, they'll just sell it to china and india.
I got an email about this and am already participating. I think it's a great idea!

To everyone who doesn't know what he is saying...he is just saying to boycott the biggest oil companies which are Mobile/Exxon...he is not saying to not buy gas, just not to buy from them.
i would love to, but at the same time i DO need gas to get around to work and to visit home and things like that
Great. sink their profit margin for a day or two so they panic and send prices even higher. Great plan.
Yes, but I'm not sure it would make any difference.
definitely!!!
Hell yes.

The gas is making everyone I know, including myself, slide into as great big hard spot.

Pretty soon, it's gonna be ';Choose gas or food'; for the middle class folks ( aka, me)

And what in the hell are the elderly and the lower income people supposed to do?

Yes, lets do it, by hell!
u are all a bunch of morons

stop voting democrat and suporting the gd tree huggers and maybe your gas would be cheaper

you work 41/2 months each year to pay taxes to support all the deadbeats in this country and only work on average 25 days to pay your fuel costs

get a clue pushrod

you must have been educated in one of those govt schools too, eh?
As others have explained, a selective boycott won't work. You need to get the entire country to not use gas from any gas station. Good luck with that.

Mythbuster for this urban legend is here: http://www.snopes.com/politics/gasoline/鈥?/a>
If you boycott Exxon/Mobil you will buy gas from all the others. What do you think will happen when all the other gas stations run short on gas because of all their new customers? That's right!! They'll buy gas from the person who has alot of it, who's that? That's right!! Exxon/Mobil ... there is only one way to bring the retail gas market to its knees, and that is to only use the car for absolute necessity, that is going to work and going home, even carpool doing that. On the weekends, STAY HOME, don't go anywhere... do your foodshopping on the way home from work. Even cutting down that much will do the trick..
Okay...i dont wanna burst neones bubbles...but if we boycott oil/ gas lets say tomorrow...were gonna need it the next day anyway...this wont lower prices because exxon will actually raise prices to be able to make budget and make a profit.
that's so stupid, people are not going to stop buying gas any quicker than they are going to stop going to work, or stop driving, or actually WALK anywhere!!
You're an absolute idiot if you think this will work. Apparently you only paid attention on the first day of economics class. Not everything is a simple, linear supply and demand curve.
YES they're always the gas stations with the most expensive gas, so i don't understand why anyone buys from them in the first place. lets do it
This would not solve the problem you think it would. Boycotting a few american branches of oil and gas companies would only hurt america's economy by making the companies jack up prices to cover salaries. Meanwhile, foreign oil companies make fortunes because they control the oil prices.

Therefore, the only way for a boycot to work would be to boycott all gas/oil products, meaning ride your bikes to work and non-motorized lawn mowers.
already am for their poor record on civil rights
YES. Bring it.
AWESOME IDEA...one draw back...totally imposible, ppl need to drive. Ppl have families to support so driving is a must, worthy effort though.
Lets go for it!!! Everyone do it
I say yes! I have horses and a wagon I will get around that way. Lots of room in my wagon so instead of carpool we can ';wagon-pool';
Well, if everyone boycotts Exxon Mobile, the company would suffer a pinch.

I am already boycotting Exxon Mobile.
Yes! I think we should give up driving and buying gas one day a week, (like Sunday.)

Yes, it will effect other areas of the economy but we must send a message to our government that something needs to be done. Increasing Gas Prices will lead our country into a depression.

I have already begun staying home on Sunday.
yes i would but i cant drive a car! my grandpa sent me an email about that. it sayed thatu stop buying from one place then the prices would go down. then all the other places would lower there prices. I thik it would work!
You know it but lets look at it realistically there is no way that everyone in the nation is not go to buy gas for one day it is physically impossible. Don't get me wrong I think it is getting to the point that the government needs to do something about it. San Diego did they made a law that says that the gas company couldn't raise the price of gas more than 20 cents in 2 weeks that needs to be nation wide.
would you be willing to stop driving for a few months to save the enviroment...yea lets...duh
YES
Are you inbred? Prices are set by OPEC, not private owners. Get mad at Iran! Boycott Iran and all the other OPEC companies. Get mad at BP, Chevron, Sunoco, Texaco...
